portfolio > prototypes

In my first year at Bentley, I took a prototyping class with Chauncey Wilson (Autodesk).  Our assignments varied: we created personas, and created submissions for the Usability Professionals Association Body of Knowledge (to name a couple).

persona

The assignment was to create a persona, based on assumptions and light research for a user of a job search website.  As I was a recent graduate from college, I chose to create a persona of a recent college graduate searching for a job, attempting to do so with LinkedIn.com.  I used PowerPoint to format the persona.

rich picture

One of our first assignments was to create a Rich Picture to help us visualize a process including various stakeholders.  I chose to create a rich picture of the flow of goods and services of a local coffee shop.  I used PowerPoint to create this rich picture, and learned that visualizing relationships and processes is important in understanding them.

wireframe

During the months I spent researching Human Factors organizations, I visited many websites.  As part of an assignment, I created a wireframe of such a website.  I used PowerPoint to create this wireframe.  I found that using color made the process more difficult, and from then on omitted color from my wireframes.

medium fidelity prototype

Using Microsoft PowerPoint, I created a medium fidelity prototype for a fictional car payment calculator.  This was my first attempt at creating a clickable prototype in PowerPoint and found it clunky and time-consuming, however, it was able to do the job.
